As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Southeast Louisiana is experiencing a significant shortage in healthcare access. The region lacks adequate hospitals and primary care physicians to service its residents. Residents of New Orleans are further disadvantaged because privately held hospitals are overburdened and the only public hospital remains closed. will post documents concerning healthcare access including documents related to the closing of Charity Hospital and the VA Hospital, LSU's proposed rebuilding project for Charity Hospital, and other important healthcare data that affects the community.
